For Traditional First-Year Students
The Admissions Committee affirms that a student’s ability, motivation and maturity cannot be measured by mathematical formulas, but rather by a careful and thoughtful review of all the applicant’s credentials. Candidates for admission to Carlow University must present satisfactory evidence of the ability to achieve at the college level. Generally, the applicant should follow the college preparatory curriculum in high school (18 units of work), achieve at least a B average, and rank in the upper two-fifths of the class.
The Admissions Committee recognizes that school curricula vary greatly, and consequently will consider favorably the application of an academically-able student whose preparation differs from the traditional college preparatory program. In some cases, admission standards are sufficiently flexible to permit some admission requirements to be waived.
For Transfer Students
Carlow welcomes traditional transfers into all programs.
Students transferring to Carlow for programs in:
- Science, Mathematics or Social Work must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Perfusion Technology must have a minimum 2.8 GPA
- Education or Nursing must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- All other programs require a minimum 2.0 GPA
Admission is determined on an individual basis. SAT/ACT scores are not required for transfer students but may be one of the factors considered if the student has minimal college credit.
