Home-Educated Student Admission

For Traditional First-Year Students

As a small, liberal arts, Catholic University, providing a value-centered education, Carlow University recognizes the unique experiences and benefits provided to home educated students and welcomes their applications to the University.

A home-educated student applying for admission should:

• Submit a completed application form by either applying online for free, or submitting a formal application for admission, along with a non-refundable $20.00 application fee. Send either a check or money order made payable to Carlow University to the Admissions Office, Carlow University, 3333 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213;

• Submit an academic transcript;

• Submit evaluations from the student’s individual evaluator;

• Submit a personal statement;

• Submit scores from the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) of the College Board or the American College Testing (ACT) Program;

• Submit a portfolio of the most recent year. This is highly recommended:

• Arrange for a personal interview and campus visit. Although this is optional, it is strongly recommended, and in some instances, may be required. Admissions counselors are available to help with all steps of admissions and financial aid processes. In many geographical regions, admissions counselors will visit prospective students and their families in their home.
